I have kept a journal on the web for years now, since long before blogging
became the new buzzword. It began as a commentary on my husband's
diary and tends to concentrate on free software, Linux, Gnome, and
living with a programmer. There are other bits and pieces I wanted
to write about too. But there are a few thousand people who read
that, and I didn't think they would all be fascinated by comments
about Welsh lessons or attempts to write Welsh. In fact, I have
had such a deluge of email since he started keeping his in Welsh
that I am very sure they would not be: without exception they
have asked me to use my supposed influence on him to stop him and
make him write in English again. I fear the reaction if I do the
same. So here is a different page altogether, where I can ramble
and where I hope I shall be able to look back in a year and say
Well, I'm getting a bit better now
.
So this is nothing to do with Linux, Gnome, living with a hacker, how to configure procmail or any of the other things I scribble about. It's stuff about Welsh lessons, or attempts to write in Welsh. But since the course concentrates on spoken Welsh far more than written, this may be a bit ambitious. (Or uchelgeisiol, which splits up to mean trying high, seeking high: what a lovely way to express it.)
And for once I am going to buck the trend and write in chronological order. Doing dates backwards is hard enough in English.
Corrections very welcome. Please remember that I only started lessons in October 2002! Attempts to translate it back into English are probably doomed to fail, and I'd rather you didn't even try: there's nothing of relevance to Linux and what Alan is hacking and so on here.
